VerticalResponse Marketing Lounge

Hi

Does anyone know how to access the information that is sent to Google from your email campaign... on Google analytics!

I haven't found any information on Google's site, and the Vertical Response help is focused on the VR side of things!

Thanks
Andy

Hi Andy,

If you have already signed up for a Google Analytics account and placed the code on your website, just go to Google Analytics account and log in:

Andy,

You will find the results from your VR emails in the "campaigns" area of Google analytics.
I've also attached a PDF which explains more.

I am wondering if I failed to do something in my last campaign?

I have the Analytics settings all done. I have the Analytics tracking code installed, I even have the "conversion" tracking loaded on the pages.

I sent my second campaign, and chose the email address as the merge field.

And while 35 persons are shown on VR accessing pages that are being tracked by GA (according to the icon) -- when I look at my Campaign reports on Analytics, I don't see them at all -- only those from my previous campaign!

Any thoughts?

Hi Ron,

So when you log in to Google Analytics and click on "Campaigns" you're not seeing your last campaign results there? Can you tell me the date and name of the campaign that you don't see? I know from the Google Analytics discussion boards that sometimes the results are slow or delayed in coming to your account for various reasons and maybe you got caught in one of those drills.

Campaign name was 20080515 and it was sent on May 15th.

I am seeing results from campaigns 20080501 and 20080601 (although they do not match the clicks in the VR reports at all).

Hi Ron,

One of our engineers took a look at that campaign for which you're not seeing results in GA and it looks like everything is in order from our end. All the links for your domain were tagged with the appropriate GA parameters and I see the tracking code on your web pages. I hate to say this but you may need to contact Google to see what happened to your data. Let us know if you have any luck with them.

In my experience they do not match and I have everything set up correctly as well. I have contacted Google and their response was that there will always be variations in data.

I gave up trying to match up sales through Google Analytics a long time ago.

Please post if you find a solution or if anyone else has gotten this to work.

Go to www.google.com/analytics, click the "Access Analytics" button and login using your gmail (the same that you linked your campaign to.)

I hope this helps.
Email me and I'll be happy to walk you through.

IT's very cool that I can see how people behaved by campaign, but since I chose the email field on the last step, I'd think I'd be able to see what these individuals are, so I could say, "Tom clicked my email and spent an hour on my site reading everything, but Jerry bounced immediately". Is this possible? Something to do with user defined fields?

Do the VR people answer questions in this forum?

We've been having problems with tracking through analytics as well. Under campaign the different subject lines of an email should be showing and don't; in addition I've never been able to see who has clicked through or who's made a purchase as I've been told we should be able to do. As far as I can tell everything is set up properly on the VR end of things. Is there something special I should be doing with our analytics settings?

You have to tag your links in your email. You can use something like bit.ly or Google's url tracker http://www.google.com/support/googleanalytics/bin/answer.py?hl=en&a...

Then you can see clicks and track them throughout your website. Hope this helps!
