VerticalResponse Marketing Lounge

Hi, everyone out in VR-land,

I've been working away doing research on new reporting features we could add to VerticalResponse and as we plan this out, I'd like to hear from you all. So the question I pose to you is not simply: What features do you want to see? but rather: What are the questions that you use our product to answer for yourself, your team or your company? What information is missing? What features that we currently have can you not live without?

I'm dying to know!

One thing that I would like to see regarding click statistics would be a campaign view that shows our actual campaign with an overlay of click statistics. This would show physically where on the email we get the most clicks.

Another thing to consider is the hours since launch chart... I understand how how to read this and why it is the way it is, but perhaps a different style of chart would be better being that business owners don't enjoy seeing charts with downward slopping results, we see enough of that in the stock market these days.

Hi MODassic,

That's a great point you bring up and one we've been discussing internally, which is: are the recipient events like opens, clicks, bounces, etc important to view in a graph over time or are you more interested in a cumulative summary of each? As you mentioned, those graphs will all tend to look alike over time, down and to the right. It's only natural. So is that simply telling you something you already knew?
Is it more compelling to see how a certain campaign performed against your account's lifetime average or against a set of campaigns that you select? Is it helpful to see each recipient event as it happens? For example, "joe@mail.com clicked htt]s://yoursite.com at 9:38 am".

For example, "joe@mail.com clicked htt]s://yoursite.com at 9:38 am". Would be Fantastic.

An Idea for the charter would be to include the actual time - the ability to set account time zones +/-GMT would be needed.
Any forwards sent by clients and who, would be interesting
being able to view online response lists and activity lists
being able to set rules on behavoiur would help and trigger these from our website or have them automate the build of lists, ie customers who didnt buy x but looked at y, or clients who clicked on a and bought send them x
oh off the side

it would be great if i culd have multiple opt in forms, one for each of my lists with a diffrent email sent to confirm
Hi Steven,

To your first post: yes we're looking at displaying forwards with who did the forwarding. We'll also be showing you lists of the list members who fall under each type of event (open, click, etc).

You can have multiple opt-in forms with different confirmation emails sent to them today. There's nothing stopping you from creating multiple opt-in forms and customizing the reply email as you like them. Each opt-in form can be linked to a separate list to keep track of those signups.

To me personally the statistics and graph over time just don't really provide me with any usable information. Like you said every campaign no matter how successful will have higher open rates right after launch and dwindle down after that. All it really shows is how quickly people check their email.

I really think a graphical overlay which shows our email and which parts of our email got the most clicks would be greatly beneficial and much more useful in designing campaigns than the open rates over time.
I would like to know who is opening my emails. I'm not that concerned about click-throughs, just how many people are opening and who they are. If they don't open it month after month, then I want to take them off my list. Thanks for the opportunity to voice our needs.
Hi Anita,

Thanks for the feedback. Have you used the Download tab in our current reporting section? You can select just the people who have opened your emails and then add them to a new list or download them and have a look in Excel.
We're looking at a way to display those folks who have opened, clicked, etc online in VR so that you can have a look and then decide if you want to make a new list, download, etc.

Thanks,

Is there a way currently to report cumulative statistics? For example, we want to report our open rate and our clickthrough rates for all the September campaigns combined. Does this already exist?

Thanks,

Mike
Hi Mike,

We do not have this feature currently but you just validated our idea. We're thinking about a way in which you could easily aggregate the performance of your sent campaigns over some period of time.

Can I ask if there's specific information that you use our reporting to obtain? Do you use our campaign comparison tool?

Any and all feedback is most welcome.

Hi Jeremy,

Thanks for your reply. We are just starting to use the comparison tool and we do find it very useful. It would really serve us well to be able to aggregate campaign reports like you mentioned. We are an educational non profit and try to report quarterly metrics across all our regions and departments. Could there be a way to tag campaigns by region or department and then run a report that would aggregate those with a selected tag?

thanks,

Mike
