VerticalResponse Marketing Lounge

Hi there,

I used these 'marketing' email to keep my customers updated of various system updates. In addition to web links I need to create a link to a file on their internal network (ie h:\files\myfile.txt)

Any ideas? It would be great if I could have tracking of this but that is not necessary. To add another level of confusion, the users are on Lotus Notes. So I'm talking about a HotSpot really.

What happens if you simply include that text "h:\files\myfile.txt" as a URL in your email? How is it viewed in Lotus Notes?
Run a quick test and check the outcome.

From experience that sort of link will show as a clickable link in a Microsoft environment with OL2003. I have no doubt about the tracking though.

Hi Tony,

Thanks for the reply. I have tried this but the problem, as I am learning, is that Lotus doesn't play nicely with html emails. When you want to add a link in a Lotus email you create a 'hotspot' and attach the link that way. When I send links from VR or any other email application, the local file links just show the text and don't convert.

Looks like I have to suck it up for this one client.

Sam,

Let's not give up so quick. I assume that graphical links work in LM. Here's an idea.

Create a graphical link. Make a small graphic, perhaps black text on a white background or something that might fit your design more appropriately. Make it obvious in some way that its a link. Then make the URL of the link the "h:\files\myfile.txt" string. Would that work?
