VerticalResponse Marketing Lounge

I'm the point person for using VR at our institution. Like many other schools, we have a number of variables when mailing to constituents. We have lists for event notifications, special interests, and regular newsletters. They are all different but one person could be on one list or 10.

The problem we've finally butted up against is that when someone unsubscribes in VR, it's absolute, across the board. They may unsubscribe to one particular email from one list but will no longer receive emails from any other list. One click and your out completely, blocked on all counts.

We can't afford a system where people manage their own subscriptions and preferences. We thought VR was going to be perfect for us (and it's great) except for this snag.

I heard today from Customer Support that they are working on a new system which will address this, but there isn't a timeline on when it will be available.

Love to hear what others have to say and how you prevent this situation or manage it after the fact.

The addition of this capability would be very valuable to us -- and to the recipient of our emails. We use Vertical Response for newsletters, product bulletins to existing customers, and to generate new revenue. Sometimes we have people opt-out because they don't want to get promotional emails, but this means they are also losing out on the newsletters and sometimes very critical product information. The sooner this feature is added, the better for us!
