Hi

I'm looking for a way to add a link to my VR newsletters so the email recipient can forward the newsletter to a friend. It would also be nice to be able to track how many newsletters were forwarded using this method.

I've noticed that using the "forward" button in the email client seems to break a lot of the html causing the newsletter to render improperly.

Hi Scot,

You're in luck! With your VR account, you can add a Forward to a Friend link in your email campaign. How you do this depends on what type of campaign you're creating. Please follow these steps for the Canvas or Wizard campaigns:

Canvas:

1. Log into your account.
2. Click on the name of the campaign of which you need to enable the link.
3. Click on “Make Changes to this Campaign.”
4. Highlight the text that says “Forward to a Friend” or place your cursor where you want the link to appear
5. Click on the “-insert-“ drop-down menu in the toolbar and choose “Forward to Friend Link.”


Wizard:

1. Log in to your VerticalResponse account.
2. Under the “Emails” section choose the campaign that you want to include this feature.
3. In the top right corner next to “Spam Check” you will see a link that says “Forward to a Friend.” Click on this link.
4. Check the box next to “Forward to a Friend” in the new window.
5. Click on “Continue Editing Your Campaign.”

Also, the really nifty thing about this link is that when someone clicks on the "Forward to a Friend" link and enters their friend's email address, it will then send that email campaign to the friend. Once the friend clicks on the link in the campaign that says they want to receive more mailings from you in the future, they will then appear in a list titled "F2AF" in your Mailing List Management section. That address will then be mailable from your account for any campaigns going forward.

Thanks Christina! It was right in front of me all the time.

I have a unusual question to ask. We use VR to send our newsletters and we also use another company to send the same newsletter. By using the other company, they let use use their database of emails. Are we allowed to (or is it possible to) use the "Forward to a Friend" link that is generated through VR and add it to the emails that get sent out by our second company?

Great! I'm glad those instructions were helpful.

Regarding your question, Unfortunately, there isn't a way to put that link in an email outside of VerticalResponse. There are specific characters that are added to that URL that are specific to the email campaign that you launch from VR. You wouldn't even be able to use the same link from one email campaign to another with VerticalResponse and have that link work.

One thought I had, though, is that you could always put an opt-in form in the email campaign you send through this other system where recipients could opt-in to receive your email communication through VR.
