If someone signs up through our website (first opt) but doesn't confirm through the email they receive in their inbox do they receive emails or not?

In other words they only single opted in rather than the double opt.

Hi Matt,

Good question! When an address is listed as "Single Opt-in" in your account, it's not considered mailable. This is done for several reasons. One, it prevents you from spending money to send to bad addresses; either those people who mistype their email address (and thus don't receive the confirmation message), or if some kind of spammer attacks your opt-in form with invalid email addresses. Secondly, if someone were to sign-up someone else's valid email address via your opt-in form, it will prevent that address from being auto-signed up for your newsletter and then marking your message as spam when they receive your email campaign because they weren't the actual one to sign-up. Also, sometimes people sign-up for a newsletter and then change their mind so they don't click on the confirmation link (I know that I've done this before.)

These are the reasons that I can come up with regarding why you wouldn't want to mail to single opt-in addresses, but perhaps there are others.
